Wickford Library

Summit Projects redeveloped an existing retail unit in Wickford, constructing a substantial new front extension to create a modern public library. The works transformed a former shop into a contemporary community facility with upgraded utilities, full building services and high‑quality internal and external finishes.

Key Works Delivered

Demolition of the original perimeter wall to open up the site for the new library extension.
Construction of a large front extension forming the main library space and new public entrance.
Integration of the existing retail structure with the new extension to create a single, open-plan library environment.
Installation of internal partitions to define back-of-house areas, meeting rooms, staff spaces and support facilities.

Envelope, fit out and externals

Curtain walling and glazing, including automatic entrance doors, to form a bright, accessible main facade to the new library.
Fire compartmentation integrated into walls, partitions, floors and ceilings to meet current regulations.
New grid ceiling system to coordinate services, lighting and acoustics within the main library space.
Installation of a staff kitchen, welfare areas and new toilet facilities to current standards.
